Program Overview
The DUDES Club is a model for Indigenous men’s wellness promotion that focuses on building solidarity, brotherhood, and community connection among men.
Through conversation, shared activities, and peer support, the program creates space for men to reconnect with culture, community, and their role within families and communities.
The Indigenous Fellowship of Hamilton Road (IFHR) is exploring the development of a local DUDES Club in partnership with the broader DUDES Club model.
Why the Program Exists
Many Indigenous men continue to experience the impacts of historical colonialism, including displacement from traditional lands, loss of language and culture, and disruption of traditional roles within community and family life.
These realities have contributed to social marginalization, intergenerational trauma, and barriers to health and wellbeing.
The DUDES Club model works within this context by creating culturally safe spaces where men can gather, share experiences, and support one another.
What Participants Can Expect
Participants may experience opportunities such as:
• Peer support and open conversation among men
• Cultural teachings and community connection
• Land-based activities and outdoor learning
• Health and wellness discussions
• Community meals and shared activities
Community Impact
Across Canada, DUDES Clubs have demonstrated the importance of creating supportive spaces where Indigenous men can connect and support one another.
Participants often report feeling less isolated, more connected to their culture, and more confident in seeking support for their health and wellbeing.
Looking Forward
IFHR is exploring the possibility of establishing a DUDES Club within the Hamilton Road community.
Through partnerships with Elders, community leaders, and existing DUDES Club organizers, IFHR hopes to create a supportive space where men can gather, share knowledge, and strengthen their role within the community.
