About

Who We Are

The Indigenous Fellowship of Hamilton Road (IFHR) is an Indigenous-led community organization based in London, Ontario.

The organization was established to support Indigenous youth, families, and community members by creating welcoming spaces where people can gather, learn, and strengthen relationships with one another.

Through community programming, cultural learning, and land-based initiatives such as the Mushkeeki Gitigan Medicine Garden, IFHR works to support community wellbeing and cultural connection within the Hamilton Road neighbourhood.

Our Story

The work that would eventually lead to the creation of IFHR began through community engagement and land-based learning initiatives within the Hamilton Road area.

One of the earliest initiatives was the development of the Mushkeeki Gitigan Medicine Garden, which has served as a flagship program since 2018.

The garden created opportunities for youth and community members to reconnect with cultural teachings, traditional medicines, and environmental stewardship.

Over time, community conversations and growing participation demonstrated the need for a broader community hub that could support cultural learning, youth engagement, and community connection.

These conversations ultimately led to the formation of the Indigenous Fellowship of Hamilton Road.

Our Mission

The mission of IFHR is to create a welcoming Indigenous-led community hub that supports cultural learning, community connection, and opportunities for Indigenous youth, families, and community members.

Through programs, partnerships, and community initiatives, IFHR works to strengthen relationships, support cultural knowledge sharing, and contribute to the wellbeing of the Hamilton Road community.

Leadership and Governance

IFHR is guided by a Board of Directors who provide leadership, governance, and strategic direction for the organization.

Board members bring a variety of experiences and perspectives that help support the organization’s mission and long-term development within the community.

Organizational Growth

As IFHR continues to grow, the organization is working toward developing a community hub that supports a range of programs including youth programming, community gatherings, cultural learning opportunities, and initiatives that support community wellbeing.

Through partnerships with community organizations, Elders, and local institutions, IFHR aims to strengthen opportunities for connection, learning, and collaboration within the Hamilton Road neighbourhood.
