Community Programming

Program Overview

Community Programming at the Indigenous Fellowship of Hamilton Road (IFHR) creates opportunities for Indigenous community members to gather, share knowledge, and strengthen relationships within the Hamilton Road neighbourhood.

These programs are designed to support cultural connection, learning, and community wellbeing through gatherings, workshops, and community-led activities.

Why the Program Exists

The Hamilton Road and East London area is home to a significant Indigenous population and a strong sense of community. However, community research and conversations have also identified the need for culturally grounded spaces where people can gather, share knowledge, and support one another.

Community Programming at IFHR was created to provide these opportunities while strengthening relationships, cultural knowledge, and community engagement.

What Participants Can Expect

Participants may experience opportunities such as:

• Community gatherings and cultural events

• Workshops and shared learning opportunities

Community Impact

Community programming plays an important role in strengthening relationships and cultural connection. By creating welcoming spaces where community members can gather and learn together, IFHR supports community wellbeing and shared learning across generations.

Looking Forward

As IFHR continues to grow, Community Programming will expand to reflect the evolving needs and interests of the Hamilton Road community. New gatherings, learning opportunities, and partnerships will continue to emerge through collaboration with community members, Elders, and local organizations.
